Wildfire season in the U.S. occurs between June and August, but the 2022 fire season is well underwary with warmer weather and dry vegetation. Per the National Interagency Fire Center, the number of acres burned by wildfires is 112% above the average for the last 10 years.

TIPS & RESOURCES
TIPS TO PREPARE
- Install smoke detectors and fire extinguishers
- Develop and test an emergency plan with your employees, including evacuation procedures
- Avoid open burning, especially near flammable materials, treesm trash, brush etc.
- Secure important documents and items of all critical assets in an offsite area
- Reach out to Ritz Safety for aid in preparedness
TIPS TO RECOVER
- Do not lock your facility as Firefighters may need to enter to fight the fire
- If you are trapped inside, stay away from outside walls
- If you are outside, find a depression with sparse fuel or a road and lie face down. Cover yourself with anything that might shield you from the fire's heat
- If you are in need of medical assistance, call 911
- Routinely check for smoke or sparks that may ignite after the fire
- Do not return to your facility until local authorities report that it is safe to do so
- If/when you return, wear protective clothing and check with your local officials about air quality prior to entering
